Edi Gathegi has joined the cast of DC’s live-action film Superman Legacy alongside Nathan Fillion (The Rookie) and Isabela Merced (Father of the Bride). Gathegi will play Mister Terrific, a self-made superhero who doesn’t have any superpowers per se but is known for his genius-level intellect, proficiency in science and engineering, hand-to-hand combat, and athletic abilities.
Gathegi joins David Corenswet (The Politician) and Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) who were recently cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively. This new Superman reboot is written by James Gunn who will also direct the film for a 2025 release.

Superman Legacy will be Mister Terrific’s first live-action feature film appearance as the character has previously only appeared in CW’s Arrowverse series Arrow where he was played by Echo Kellum.
This is the second time that Gathegi is playing a superhero after appearing in Marvel’s X-Men: First Class as mutant superhero Armando Muñoz aka Darwin.
Sharing his excitement on Instagram, the Kenyan-American actor wrote: “Beyond grateful a master storyteller has invited me to contribute to this iconic property and this artistic conversation. Humbled to join the DC family. Thank you, James Gunn, Peter Safran & Chantal Nong. Up up and away. @jamesgunn“
The actor is also set to appear in Netflix’s limited series Zero Day alongside Robert De Niro. His other previous roles include The Twilight films, The Blacklist, Briarpatch, StartUp, The Harder They Fall, and most recently, Apple TV’s For All Mankind.
