The Chocolate Empire, a new Kenyan crime drama from Insignia Productions – the creators Single Kiasi and Kash Money – premieres on 20 March. Set against the backdrop of Nairobi’s elite circles, it stars Jimmi Gathu  (Kina) in the role of JB Mauzo, a once-powerful businessman freshly released from prison. As he works to rebuild his life and mend his fractured family, he secretly operates a high-end escort service from his exclusive cigar club.

From South Africa, the action-packed drama series Empini returns for a second season on 4 March. In this season, Ndoni (played by Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, Savage Beauty) embarks on a politically charged journey to clear her father’s name and uncover the government conspiracies surrounding his murder.

Fans of reality can also watch out for Afrikaans spinoff of hit reality franchise The Mommy Club on 14 March.

On 28 March, Africa’s longest running Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Durban, returns for a fifth season, promising even more spice than ever. Season 5 brings back four familiar faces: OGs Nonku Williams and Sorisha Naidoo, alongside Season 2 alum Jojo Robinson and Season 4’s Angel Ndlela. They’ll be joined by three new Housewives, promising fresh energy, opulence, personal growth and drama.

From Nigeria, a fraudster is entangled in an ancient world when he’s mysteriously transported a powerful kingdom in Yoruba fantasy series Between Worlds, premiering on 6 March. Meanwhile, in the present, a detective investigates a case linked to the kingdom.

For movies, watch out for It Ends with Us, starring the now publicly warring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, dropping on 1 March, the eighth biggest box office hit of 2024, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, on 3 March, Venom: The Last Dance, the 10th highest-grossing movie of 2024, on 31 March.

The world-famous but highly dysfunctional televangelist family is back on 24 March in The Righteous Gemstones S4.

On 25 March, The Emmy-nominated and BAFTA-winning series Gangs of London returns for its third season where chaos erupts in London after a spiked shipment of cocaine kills hundreds.
