Now that both Succession and Barry have come to an end, keep an eye out for HBO’s newest show The Idol, from Euphoria’s Sam Levinson, The Weekend (who co-stars) and Reza Fahim. The Idol follows an aspiring pop star (Lily-Rose Depp) who begins a complicated relationship with a self-help guru and cult leader (played by The Weekend) after a nervous breakdown derails her last tour.

Showmax also serves up some of the biggest and best movies of 2022 with The Woman King on 12 June, the Viola Davis-led historical action film that tells the story of the Agojie, the fearless all-female warrior unit that protected the West African Kingdom of Dahomey in the 1800s. Nope, from Jordan Peele, is another must-watch film when it drops on 22 June. The neo-Western sci-fi horror stars Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer as siblings whose lives are derailed by a mysterious phenomenon in the clouds over their ranch.

On the reality TV front, the two-part reunion for The Real Housewives of Nairobi drops on 1 June and 8 June, with the new South African Showmax Original reality series The Mommy Club, about five glamorous and loaded mothers navigating the cut-throat city of Johannesburg, premiering on 27 June.
