Netflix Announces New South African Slate, Unveils ‘Love Is Blind: South Africa’ Hosts, Strikes Multi-Title Deal with Tshedza Pictures

Netflix has announced a new slate of South African TV shows and films set to release in 2026 while marking 10 years in South Africa at an event in Johannesburg.

The slate includes returning series and film sequels such as Blood Legacy season two, premiering on 25 September; Seriously Single Too, the sequel to the 2020 film Seriously Single; and Another Disaster Holiday, which will premiere on 11 December.

Netflix has also confirmed that Tuiskoms season two, Marked season two and Meet the Khumalos 2 are currently in different stages of production.

Following How to Ruin Christmas and How to Ruin Love, the streamer is expanding the How to Ruin comedy universe with another spin-off, How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents, premiering on 30 October. Produced by Burnt Onion Productions in collaboration with producer Jayan Moodley (The Kandasamys), the series follows an interracial couple whose engagement brings two very different families and cultures together.

Eight months after announcing Love Is Blind: South Africa, Netflix has now unveiled Dineo and Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa as the hosts of the first African edition of the global reality franchise. Produced by afrOkaans, Love Is Blind: South Africa will release later this year.

Another title set for release later this year is the wedding docu-soap Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza, which follows TV and radio personality Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa on the road to their wedding.

BrightFire Productions is working on a new dating reality show, while Netflix has also struck a deal with Bomb Shelter Film Productions (Shaka iLembe, Red Ink, Isibaya) for a new scripted series and a multi-title partnership with Tshedza Pictures (Youngins, Adulting, The River) for four scripted series.

The new slate comes as Netflix marks a decade in South Africa. Since launching in the country in 2016, the streamer says it has made more than 300 local titles available on the service, working with over 30 local production companies and supporting more than 8,000 jobs.

Among its recent South African successes, Netflix points to The Polygamist, which it says recorded more than 24 million views in its first weeks, reached the Top 10 in 62 countries and ranked No. 1 in more than 21 countries. The series is based on Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi’s 2012 novel of the same name, whose sales Netflix says tripled following the show’s release.

The cast includes Xolile Tshabalala, Buyile Mdladla, Mike Ndlangamandla, Thembi Nyandeni, Amanda Seome, Dineo Rasedile, Anthony Oseyemi, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, Nandipa Khubone, Pallance Dladla and Thabiso Ramotshela.

How to Ruin Diwali: Meet the Parents — 30 October 2026
Mmabatho Nkomo’s attempt to impress her fiancé’s traditional Indian family goes wrong when she accidentally exposes her future father-in-law’s affair days before Diwali. The comedy stars Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, Kyle Clark, Jailoshini Naidoo, Koobeshen Naidoo, Sonia Mbele, Meshack Mavuso, Luthando “BU” Mthembu, Denise Zimba and Ashish Gangapersad.

Another Disaster Holiday — 11 December 2026
Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, the sequel follows Joseph Ngema as he prepares to become a father again at 50 and attempts to crash his children’s holiday with his ex-wife Dora and her new boyfriend while supposedly taking a heavily pregnant Nandi on a Sun City babymoon. Kay Sibiya joins the returning cast.

Tuiskoms Season 2 — Coming in 2026
Fleur and Werner prepare for their wedding as a woman with a complicated past returns to Wilderness hoping to reconnect with the family she left behind. Amalia Uys, Kim Syster, Jane de Wet, Clint Brink and Armand Aucamp star.

Love Is Blind: South Africa — Coming in 2026
Hosted by Dineo and Solo Langa, the first African edition of the global reality franchise follows singles who choose someone to marry without meeting them before testing their relationships outside the pods and on the road to the altar.

Seriously Single Too — Coming in 2026
Dineo and Noni return for a Cape Town bachelorette getaway that threatens their already strained friendship. Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela and Katleho Ramaphakela, the buddy comedy stars Fulu Modibedi, Tumi Morake, Buntu Petse, Keke Mphuthi, Yonda Thomas and Thabiso Rammusi.

Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza — Coming in 2026
The wedding docu-soap follows TV and radio personality Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa as they prepare to marry. Created by Nomzamo Mbatha, Teddy Geldart, Vuyo Sowah and Pet Tasara, and directed by Pascual Wakefield, the series is set to launch later this year.

Marked Season 2
Babalwa sinks deeper into the criminal underworld, putting her family in greater danger. Created by Akin Omotoso, Sydney Dire and Steven Pillemer, the heist thriller stars Lerato Mvelase, Sdumo Mtshali, Natasha Thahane, Sphamandla Dhludhlu and Bonko Khoza.

Meet the Khumalos 2
The sequel brings back its two mothers for a road trip with an engagement hanging in the balance. Directed by Jayan Moodley, the comedy stars Khanyi Mbau, Ayanda Borotho, Jesse Suntele and Khosi Ngema.
