Salem, a brand new telenovela starring Mumbi Maina (The Matrix Resurrections), Foi Wambui (Sincerely Daisy) and Melvin Alusa (Mission to Rescue) is coming to Maisha Magic Plus on 11 April 2022.
With Maisha Magic East’s popular telenovela Selina coming to an end in April, Salem is set to be M-Net’s next premium telenovela in Kenya, if the star-studded leads are anything to go by.

Described as a tale of two cities, Salem follows two different families – the wealthy Mufasas in the high class, upmarket neighbourhood of Karen and the humble Karanis in the high-density and chaotic Salem – and how their lives collide after a life-changing event.
Directed by Likarion Wainaina (Supa Modo), Salem also stars Ruth Apondi (Tausi), Brian Kabugi (Kina), Jackline Wanjiku (Adisa), Kael Njihia, Ruth Maingi (Mama Duka), Wangui Ndirangu, and Auudi Rowa (This Is Life).
Speaking about the new telenovela, Margaret Mathore, Maisha Magic Channel Head said, “The addition of Salem to our growing and excellent content slate is further confirmation that Maisha Magic Plus is the go-to channel for premium local entertainment. We’re proud to consistently push the envelope and offer value to our customers, and this one will no doubt blow our audiences away.’’
She added, “The ongoing creation of new content across various genres is beneficial to many, not just socio-economically but creatively as well. This highly acclaimed show is testimony that our creative industry is rising to the challenge of creating local content, as told through our own lens.”
Salem is executive-produced by veteran producer Njoki Muhoho, under her company Zebra Productions.
