Spinners, the third Showmax co-production with Canal+, is the first African series to be selected in competition at Canneseries. Set in the Cape Flats, the South African series follows Ethan, a 17-year-old boy who discovers a possible way out of gang life via spinning, an extreme motorsport where he can put his driving skills to better use. Based on Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Russo’s novel Straight Man, Lucky Hank stars Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad) as Professor Hank Devereaux, an English department chairman at an underfunded college, who toes the line between midlife crisis and full-blown meltdown, navigating the offbeat chaos in his personal and professional life and proving that tantrums get better with age. On the local front, catch the Kenyan gospel reality series Oh Sister! from 13 November. Oh Sister! gives viewers an inside look into the lives of seven of the most beloved gospel stars in Kenya, and the drama that sometimes surrounds their lives.
